Although I have lost my faith in Mike Tyson and am still waiting to have my name changed to Sonny Liston (that's a capital S for Sonny and a capital L for Liston... don't forget the SPACE in between)... I have stated before that the media really know how to blow up Mike Tyson has some sort of evil superbad person or whatever else they call him!

OKAY - He bit some guy's ear

OKAY - He did Marijuano in that Golota fight which he would've won anyway because Marijuana LIMITS your performance

OKAY - There's an assault charge

OKAY - Cocaine addict.. as we have all just found out!

OKAY - We all know about his hot temper and...

OKAY - Rape... although I still believe he didn't do it and it was just a young ditzy model girl wanting to cash in on the whole deal... I bet the sex was Consent HONEST!!!

But here are a few things that you all might like to know!:

  • 1984 Olympic Gold Medal Winner in the Heavyweight Division at Los Angeles 1984... famous for beating Tyson twice in the Amateurs... only to lose by way of brutal knockout loss to Tyson in 1990 after Tyson lost to Douglas... In 1996 Tillman was arrested and charged with murdering a man outside a Nevada casino. He has since been sentenced to prison.
  • Former WBA Heavyweight Boxing Champion of The World Michael Dokes in 1999 was sentenced to between four and 15 years in prison after being convicted of an attack on his fiancee in August 1998.
  • Clifford Etienne - On June 22, 2006, following his trial in Baton Rouge, Etienne was found guilty and sentenced to 150 years in prison for a cocaine fueled crime spree that included robbing a check cashing business, carjacking and kidnapping a family, and attempting to shoot two policemen. Prosecutors say that Etienne will not be eligible for parole.
I don't recall any one of these guys ever getting a really bad rep from the press... or talked up in a big way or anything! Mike Tyson never did **** like that... and know... he did not assault Robin Givens... NO PROOF!

This doesn't mean that I'm doing a backflip on Mike Tyson... I still wish to have my name changed to

Sonny Liston

and I am still very annoyed with Mike Tyson over COCAINE!!!

2 wrongs dont make a right. Just because he didnt do something as bad as these other guys doesnt mean what he did wasnt that bad. If he only messed up once or twice then everybody makes mistakes. But 14 strikes & your out. He screws up repeatedly. You have 1 assault charge I can think of a few more times than that.

I kinda seperate his boxing career from his personal life as much as I can.

The media blows this up because look at all the attention he gets. He is one of the most famous boxers of all time.
Look at how many different threads you guys have about Tyson. Look how many of you have Tyson in your name or avater. Your just as guilty as the media.
Sadly another example of how to maintain a destroyed career
Mike Tyson? I never heard of the bum? Who is Mike Tyson?
Mike Tyson's career is indeed destroyed/dead!!!

Mike Tyson was a star that had shown for a while, but he make the wrong choices in life and that put him in the place he's at now in the cabbage can. If I had any pictures of Mike Tyson up? I think I'd take those pictures down now and throw them into the cabbage can.
tyson had a 2 or 3 year carrer. primed.

... and that would be March 6 1985 (his Professional Boxing Debut) to June 27 1988 (his crushing win over Michael Spinks... Spinks first and only loss... successfully defending his Unisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World... and giving Ring Magazine no choice by to name him their champion! He peaked 3 days before he turned 22... it's sad... it's very, very, sad! :D
mike's done worse as you say white tyson and where i come from these are everyday ocurences, if he was in court here he would get fined about $1500 and that would be case closed. and he would have just been charged and releast, so mike likes to party big fcuking deal. he's still a boxing legend and nobody can take that away from him.

He would have been ONE of the greats, not the greatest. And about getting your name changed to Sonny Liston, change it to like Rocky Marciano, Willie Pep, Larry Holmes, George Foreman, or Lennox Lewis, or Joe Frazier, someone who wasn't all crazy and wild.

That's right! If you give a guy a good name he'll live up to it. For real! Not kidding! I can remember back to time before I had went into business for myself, and at the time I had been a sales manager for a company I had being working for at the time, and I called all my salesman into the office one day for a sales meeting and I gave them all nicknames like "Hitman, Mr. Strong, Cool Hand Luke, Mad Dog, etc, etc." And it transformed the sales team into being super closers and they became much more aggressive as a sales team, and my depart sales began to soar over the next few months and stayed there too, and I finally got promoted to general manager as a result of it.

See if you can guess what my nickname was that they gave me? LOL

Any way it works gave a guy a strong or good name, and he's likely going to live up to it!

Interesting word, by the way my father's father which would be my great grand father was from England, an Englishman who came to America just prior to the beginning of the first world war in the very early 1990s. My mother's family were also from England and had also came to America in the very early 1900s.

Actually, the nickname the boys gave me was "BlOOD AND GUTS," that's what they called me back in those days. They'd say I had more courage and guts than any body. I think they may had been right. I think I did. Courage is not the absence of fear, but that something is more important.
