There was a rumor going around that he hit at 1750 PSI, but that was proven to be a lie.

It was said that he was tested in the 80's, and he never had his power tested in the 80's. It was brought up once, but at the time it was brought up, Bill Cayton and Rooney were the last of Tyson's original team. Cayton said when he shot it down "Mike won't punch anything as hard as he can unless its a fight, for training, or he's getting paid to do it" and that was that. It wasn't an exact quote, but thats pretty close to it.

Amazing how these urban legends get started. If anyone has any definitive tests of punching power I'd love to see them. Until then I think it's best to treat such claims as strictly anecdotal.

I heard that tyson and lewis got their power tested and lewis was found to hit much harder.
