Holmes: To beat Holmes you pretty much only had 1 option. You couldn't be afraid to get hit with 5-6 good, clean, shots in a row, and you had to have a stable chin. When Holmes got too comfortable he left his left arm out a little too long after he would throw his jab, so you could time a right over top, or just flat out left him self open to a right hand, thats how Shavers and Snipes dropped him. So, to be able to get that right in, you have to take him out with it, and that means you have to knock him out cold, or break his legs or something. So you would have to time the right hand over his jab (meaning you have to get hit with the jab), hit him right on the jaw with all your might, if it drops him, you have a 25% chance that it took him out or finished him. And that is he didn't get up, or the ref calls it, other than that, your pretty much screwed. Because he will do 1 of 3 things. 1, charge at you, and in that mode, Holmes could out slug just about anyone. 2, do his usuall plan, just being more cautious, or 3, get on his bysicle and throw the jab out like Ali did.

Ali: Pretty much the same as Holmes, just with the left hook, and he won't come at you, he will just run away in survival mode.

Tyson: There are 2 things you can do. The first is, you need to have a decent jab and uppercut, long reach, be tall, and have some pop in your punches. You also need to know how to put punches together fluently. You also need patients (spelling, can't spell today lol) and good foot work with a solid chin. Basicaly, do what Buster Douglas did. The other option is discouraging Tyson. To do this, you need a hard punch, iron chin, not back down, and hit him with all of your might.

Frazier: Do what Foreman did.

Marciano: We will never know because he was undefeated.

I will post more later.

a good jab with good footwork would easily defeat marciano, Just because you've never been beat doesnt mean there arent keys to victory, ali would of boxed the hell out of marciano, but once again, its bill saying rocky is the best to ever live blah blah.

That's a load of BS, tj. I guess Walcott wasn't any good in any of the criterion you pose... neither was Charles, Louis, LaStarza, Moore etc.

Marciano would have been directly in Ali's face - what would have happened is your guess, but it would have been no easy fight for Ali, guaranteed. It would have been a Frazier on two-fisted steroids for Ali

In all honesty, I think Rocky would have had a harder time beating Smokin' Joe than Ali.

im not having a bad day, those days are far behind me. no rockymocco, i dont think walcott or charles or any of those guys had as good of jab and footwork of the heavyweights post 1970.
So thats what this is about, they aren't modern enough. Walcott was the most sneaky fighter of all time. Ali coppied the Ali shuffle from Walcott. Charles is an extremely underrated boxer. He out boxed Louis for 15 rounds.

Are you guys really letting mods butcher a members username??

Anyway TysonJones, why are Walcott and Charles so much worse than those post 1970 hws? Ali was a piece of ***** prior to 1970, BTW

What?!? Ali is def the best the only hw that can be put over him as the best is Louis. Ali should be nr.1 or nr.2 on all list to be honest. He would have embarrased Marciano if George Foreman couldnt take out Ali Marciano would not. And you rate Frazier above Foreman? did you see those two guys fight? if i remember right Frazier was destroyed and embarrased in both of those fights. George Foreman would had killed Marciano, heck frazier prob would had taken Marciano. Holmes and Lewis are others that i believe to have beaten Marciano prime vs prime.

Did you see what kind of shape Frazier was in for their fight? He was in terrible shape, and he was never the same after his fight with Ali. After Manilla, much like Ali, Frazier was completely ruined as a fighter, just barely squeeking by on dispiuted decisions and his name, which got him the decisions. Marciano had better 1 punch KO power than Foreman, and a better work rate, and he had the best stamina of all time, after 15 hard fought rounds, he wasn't even breathing hard.

That was meant in response to TJ stating that all the good stuff started post 1970.

I fail to see your comparison of Marciano and Foreman - the two were vastly different fighters.
