Fightnews sources indicate that ring warrior Arturo Gatti will train in Virginia under the guidance of former light and junior welterweight champ Pernell Whitaker for his fight (against an opponent yet to be named) in July at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Last month, Buddy McGirt confirmed that he and Gatti mutually agreed to split, prompting fans to wonder who would take over the training duties for Gatti. It was widely assumed that veteran trainer Al Certo (Gatti's good friend and McGirt's former coach) would assume the role. Recently, heavyweight Calvin Brock has also announced that he as selected Whitaker as his trainer.

It is probably to late for Gatti to really get some new boxing skills, altho I've always thought Arturo had tallent that wasn't brought out.He has showen in a few past fights that he can box and move as well as brawl.Don't you think so?

Gatti's a brawler... that's why I love him. There's a difference between someone who just throws what they've got all over the place AND a brawler... the difference... one can actually BOX!!!
