I thought this would be interesting to see what You all had to say about this. Please tell about your most overrated from the past or from today. For instance , for me I'd have to say Lennox Lewis is a little overrated.I respect that he became a champion, but I always felt that he could not have done it without Emanuel Stewart in his corner. I don't think he was as good as former champs.Love to see what you all have to say. Thanks to captainobvious99 for telling me how to post this......auctioneer

1st off I disagree with you about Lewis. He was probably the best heavyweight from early 90's til now. He fought everyone & avenged his only 2 losses.

Since he has been retired all people have done is complain about how bad the heavyweight division is , that there is no dominant guy etc.

Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano

I think Muhammad Ali is way overrated all he did was showboat and say he was the greatest of all time and people believed him. Don't get me wrong he was a heck of a fighter he was and still is overrated. Joe Louis is overrated, not nearly as much as Ali, but still is overrated he had power but not as much as Marciano. Rocky Marciano is underrated he is the only champion ever to go retire undefeated. His record was 49 wins 0 lost 0 draws 43 knock outs. Larry Holmes is way underrated he went 48 and 0 before getting robbed twice by Michael Spinks. He was undeafeated heavyweight champion of the world for seven and a half years and would have been longer.

Overrated and underrated

I'd say Margarito is overrated. I saw Santos beat him. All he does is complain that PBF wll not fight hi. I say shut your clam and fight someone...maybe Hatton. I'd say Baldimir is underrated. He is a monster. Peter is overrated, a slow plodding upstart with poor fundamentals. I'd say Augustus is underrated and the victim of too many politically correct bad decisions. :D

I dont think its that easy for Margarito. There is no way in heck Hatton would fight Margarito in the next year or so. I do think some top guys are avoiding Margarito.

That said I do agree that Margarito is a bit overated. He has not beat that many quality fighters. And I dont think everyone is avoiding him. He just needs to try harder to find a fight. Maybe have Arum offer up more money.

Underrated

I totally agree that Holmes is underrated. I have him right after Joe Louis as the best ever. Jack Johnson is up there as well as is Foreman for his COMPLETE body of work. Holmes was stiffed in the last Spinks fight.

A few other I think are overated are Cotto,Casamayor & Freitas.

If Cotto moves up to 147 he will get KO'd he has no chin. Even at 140 its only a matter of time.

Nicolay Valuev & Jorge Barrios may be a bit underated.
Barrios vs Guzman could be fight of the year.

Underrated

Barrios is a monster. He is definitly underrated. A nd I think there is a Columbian by the name of Berrios who also is very underrated. He is a KO artist who list a freak fight to Steiglitz in Germany...where only the brave tread.
