Benitez was a very good fighter. He had a solid defence, he could hit, he had a good chin, and he had fast hands. Him and Leonard had a classic fight back in late 1979 where Leonard stopped him in the 15th round due to a bad cut on Benitez. Leonard showed what he was made of that night, and neither had anything to be ashamed of.

Benitez is a HOFer and defeated 2 other HOFers. He has a less than stellar HOF record for the times (53-8-1), he was still a great fighter that seems to be forgotten.

I remember him as a defensive wizard, not much of a punch, but like allot of fighters, probably under appreciated.

All boxers have pop in their hands, it's just a matter of how much or what type.

Wilfredo Benitez was one grat fighter, he was very skilled and his defence and speed were good. The reason he couldnt reign with major dominance was Sugar Ray Leonard..
